Worf
From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.
Worf is a fierce Klingon warrior turned flower arranger, portrayed by actor Michael Dorn. He first appeared in an episode of the 25th season of the BBC series Doctor Who, "The Singing Roses of Skandamar," in which he helped Dr. Who and his companion Hermione Grainger escape from an intergalactic flower show devised as a trap for the Doctor by the implacable Klingons.
Fan response to the character was so positive, and the BBC so desperate for money, that they licensed the character of Worf to Paramount, where he appeared first in Star Trek: The Next Generation and later Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The character underwent some minor changes in his trip across the Atlantic; his favorite flower switched from peonies to orchids, and he did not wear the monocle he'd originally sported on Doctor Who in any of his Star Trek appearances.
Though many viewers believed Worf's distinctive Klingon features to be sophisticated prosthetic makeup, they were actually the tragically disfiguring scars Dorn suffered in a motorcycle accident two years earlier on the set of CHiPs. (Fittingly, Worf's catchphrase on the show was "Itchy, flaky scalp!")
