Wonderbug

Wonderbug was an early 1970's children's television show produced by Sid and Marty Krofft, so you know it was really trippy. The show starred Phil Collins as an ordinary young man who was bitten by a strange bug and received superpowers as a result. Every episode, Phil would drive around a large unidentified city (probably Vancouver) in his souped-up car, the titular "Wonderbug", fighting villains and solving crimes.

The concept was familiar, perhaps a little too familiar, as lawyers hired by the producers of Speidermann pointed out to the Supreme Court. Despite the popularity of Wonderbug, it was removed from the air after only 10 episodes. After major retooling, the show morphed into its heavily altered sequel, The Bugaloos.
