USA Network

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

The USA Network was created in 1980 by an act of the U.S. Congress in order to provide an outlet for endless reruns of shows in the U.S. vaults that could not be sold into syndication.

Originally barred by statute from airing any original programming, that changed in 1995 when President Bill Clinton signed the USA-PATRIOT Act (USA Programming and Televised Reality in Optimal Technology) into law. Since then, USA has gone on to show Professional wrestling in between Law & Order reruns, with an occasional break for an obsessive-compusive detective.
