The Token Gay Associate (TGA) is an excuse for networks to have a minority figure that still qualifies as white. Notable TGAs are Willow and Tara from Buffy, and Regina from Out of Practice. TGAs are frequently the best friend of the main character or the other friend of the best friend of the main character.
