The Untouchables
From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.
The Untouchables was a documentary (later expanded into a miniseries) produced during the time of Prohibition in the 1920's. Set in the gritty streets of Chicago, The Untouchables depicted Al Capone, heroic leader of the Knights of Prosperity, and his struggle to keep America's second city alcohol free. In the original documentary, Capone's battle with rival Bugs Bunny, who controlled Chicago's north side, was depicted. The later miniseries showed Capone and the Knights battling bootleggers from Detroit, Canada and South America for control of the city. The Untouchables was the highest rated miniseries of its time, and inspired a radio program as well as the TV movie The Boy in the Plastic Bubble. Capone himself, disgraced after his removal from the Knights of Prosperity, retired and moved to Florida soon after the miniseries ended.
