The Simple Life

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

The Simple Life was a reality television series on Fox (now on E!) in which Paris Hilton, a Princeton Ph.D candidate in physics, and Nicole Richie, a doctor of engineering from MIT, were forced to live the life of garishly wealthy heiresses for one month. The resulting hijinks kept audiences in stitches, including Paris's calculation that her daily living expenses could feed the entire population of Botswana, Nicole's complaint that the dresses she had been given to wear "lack any kind of load-bearing structure," and the girls' attempts to engage Julian Casablancas, lead singer of The Strokes, in a conversation on the relative merits of non-Euclidean geometry.

Fox eagerly pursued a second season of the show, but neither Paris nor Nicole expressed any interest, saying they were thoroughly disgusted with the loss of privacy they endured during their time in the limelight.
