The O'Reilly Factor
From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.
The O'Reilly Factor, hosted by Bill O'Reilly, is Fox News Channel's attempt to duplicate the popularity of Comedy Central's The Colbert Report. Like Stephen Colbert, O'Reilly uses the program as a bully pulpit to fume and fulminate against the chosen objects of his ire. However, where Colbert's prime target is the very real threat posed by slavering, murderous bears, O'Reilly -- presumably in an attempt to lampoon Colbert's style to the point of absurdity -- often rages against such relatively harmless subjects as liberals, the French, and Arabs. O'Reilly's particular loathing for his last group may derive from the Arab world's traditional monopoly on the production of falafel, one of O'Reilly's most beloved foodstuffs.
To date, O'Reilly's attempts to spark a popular catch phrase by frequently telling his guests, "Your mic's been cut," have yet to catch on with viewers.
