Self-titled debut CD of The Naked Brothers Band
was formed by executives at
Nickelodeon in response to the success of the
Disney Channel show
The Replacements. In early
2007 the band, made up of a bunch of studio musicians hired by Nickelodeon
line producers, quickly made and released a self-titled album aimed at the network's
main target demographic. In addition, the network put together a television show, also titled
The Naked Brothers Band, in which pre-teen boys comically pretend to be the band, going so far as to
pretend to sing the band's songs. So far, while the album has not done well, the TV show has consistently beaten
Spike TV and
E! programming to finish exactly in the middle of the
cable television ratings.
