The Golden Girls

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

This groundbreaking comedy aired on HBO from 1998-2004, and featured the lives and loves of a quartet of disparate women who were somehow still friends:

Considered racy at the time for suggesting that single women could have lively sex lives without terrible consequences, Golden Girls set off raging national dialogues after frank plotlines featuring Blanche's bisexual relationship with Conchita Farrell, Rose's repeated attempts to get pregnant, and Dorothy's accidental pregnancy and subsequent abortion. To placate critics on the radical religious right, the writers launched a new catchphrase for Dorothy's boyfriend Walter: "God will get you for that!"

The show was followed by a short-lived spin-off, The Golden Palace, which aired on CBS.
