The Adventures of Pete and Pete

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

The Adventures of Pete and Pete was a live-action show that ran on Nickelodeon during the early 1990s. Set on a school bus, the show featured a group of middle-school students, all named Pete, who spent the entire show saying "Hi Pete" or "How's it going Pete" to each other while music by R.E.M. played in the background. For reasons that are unclear (but which probably had something to do with increased ecstasy intake), the show ran for 3 full seasons. The Adventures of Pete and Pete was also popular among college students, who would tape it then play it in an endless loop during their all-night rave partys.

Eventually, America sobered up, threw out their old Nirvana albums and began listening to CDs by much more talented boy bands. Nick executives got the hint and cancelled The Adventures of Pete and Pete soon after.
