Telenovela

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

Telenovelas are like soap operas, only in Spanish and featuring a finite series run.

Telenovelas are also superior to American soap operas because they are written at a level that assumes their audience aren't all MILFs.

While the telenovela format isn't very well known in America right now, it could make a breakthrough in Fall 2006. News Corporation, which is launching a new television network to be called MY Network TV, has announced that their initial lineup will consist entirely of telenovelas. No, really! Sometimes you just can't make this stuff up.
