Sunnydale

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

Sunnydale, California (pop. 38,500) gained nationwide notoriety for an unusual number of unexplained and violent deaths, particularly among its teenagers and high school principals. Numerous verified incidents of complete exsanguination and grave robbery were reported for decades, and unconfirmed reports suggest that the FBI's X-Files unit opened a case file on the town on suspicion of extraterrestrial activity.

Mysteriously, the entire town was consumed by a sinkhole in the spring of 2003, after feelings of vague and inexplicable uneasiness caused the entire population to leave town. Geologists studying the crater believe that the collapse had its epicenter at the site of the local high school.

Sunnydale was an inspiration for the WB television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Since being wiped off the face of the earth, it has been eclipsed by Smallville, Kansas, as the nation's top site of reported paranormal incidents.
