You mention Steven Bochco to me, and I have to say this in all sincerity. I said it to Steven himself the last time I saw him: "Don't work blue."

Seriously. I told him that like I would have told my own son. "Steven, you're a talented, talented man. You don't have to work blue. It's such a waste of your talent. You have the Hill Street Blues and the Cop Rock. Why do you have to do the thing with the foul-mouthed cops? You're so much better than that."

And you know what he said to me? "F*** you, you g****** little s****-f*****." That's what he said.

He's dead to me now.
