Stargate Atlanta is a spinoff series created by the producers of Stargate: SG-1 that aims to replicate the success of CSI in farming out different variations of the same series to assorted cities. "We choose Atlanta because I got stuck at the airport there on my way to pitch the series," creator Brad Wright said in an interview with Fanboy Monthly. "I'll never fly Delta again, I can tell you that."

The series focuses on people searching for strange alien worlds in the greater Atlanta metropolitan area.
