Stargate: SG-1
From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.
Stargate: SG-1 is a television series on The SciFi Channel. It was created specifically for people who believe that the exploration of strange alien worlds via a series of hyperspatial teleportation gates is, in fact, less interesting than the vast layers of bureaucracy required to run such an operation.
The series stars Col. Not John Crichton, Dr. Reads Too Much, Col. Technobabble, Hulking Linebacker Guy, and most recently, the sexy thief Waytoo Goodforthis. It formerly starred Gen. Angus MacGyver.
In 2004, Stargate: SG-1 was joined in the Friday night lineup by the spin-off Stargate Atlanta. In 2006, SciFi cancelled the show in the middle of its tenth season; unfazed, producers plan to keep making the show for at least another decade, even if they have to beam episodes directly into fans' brains. The first of two currently produced TV movies continuing the series, "Stargate: Confabulatron," is slated to air in 2008, with the second, "Stargate: Okay, Now We're Just Making Up Words," scheduled for release later that year.
