SportsCenter is the ESPN code word for "We ran out of poker-related programming and need to fill some airtime". Originally intended to give scores and highlights of key sports events, SportsCenter was rendered obsolete by the rise of the Internet. Now that even an ape can find out any score of any game at any time, SportsCenter is just another excuse for ESPN's talented commentators to spit out randomly selected catch phrases. After each edition of SportsCenter, the most annoying of the talking heads is awarded the ESPY, the network's trophy for special achievement in convincing fans not to watch sporting events.
