Michael Crichton

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

Michael Crichton is a science-fiction novelist, and the creator of the NBC TV series ER. He first gained fame by convincing us that viruses from space were out to get us. He followed that success by convincing us that genetically reconstituted dinosaurs were out to get us. (Twice.) Then, nanotechnology. And time travel. More recently, perhaps somewhat maddened by the enormous piles of money filling every corner of his vast mansion, he attempted to convince us that environmentalists who believe in global warming are out to get us.

Now, when not attemtping to convince us that genetic engineering is out to get us, he is pioneering a bold new school of public discourse, in which substantive criticisms of one's work can be most effectively refuted by slandering the person who penned them as a genitally inadequate child rapist in one's latest work. Aaron Sorkin is reportedly exploring a similar line of thinking in his latest series.

Michael Crichton is not related to IASA astronaut John Crichton.
