Lost in Space
From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.
Lost in Space was a one-hour dramedy that aired on CBS from 1997-1999.
Lost in Space was a dramatization of the plight of the Robinson Family, whose spacecraft, the Jupiter II was mysteriously lost on their way to Alpha Centauri. Despite the unknown location of the Jupiter II, each week a transmission of the ship's log was detected and relayed to Earth by the spacecraft Voyager 2. Writers for the network would take the logs and transform them into screenplays. Since the producers wanted to get the shows on the air as quickly as possible, the writers transferred the logs practically verbaitim, no matter how crazy or tripped-out they seemed to be. When transmission of the logs mysteriously ceased in 1999, the series was cancelled.
Lost in Space starred a cylon named TiVo and Haley Joel Osmond as the young Will Robinson. Also starring were Hugh Beaumont and June Lockhart as Will's parents Prof. John Robinson and Dr. Maureen Robinson; Heather Graham and Lacey Chabert as Will's sisters Judy and Penny Robinson; Matt LeBlanc as Maj. Don West; and Tony Randall as Dr. Zachary Smith.
