Italy, a nation in Europe, was once the dominant power in the world. Known then as the mighty Roman Empire, Italy's boundaries stretched from England to Russia and even as far as Egypt.

That was then. Nowadays, Italy is known mostly for a seemingly endless supply of Italian chefs, who show up on the Food Network once in a while. Italy is also known for its scenic Roman ruins, its fine artistic masterpieces, and for being one of the few nations to support Germany during World War II. But hey, Italy did win football's World Cup in 2006.
