Iraq
From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.
Iraq is an area in the Middle East that was once owned by the Gulf Oil Corporation (then an independent company, currently a division of Halliburton). Iraq was donated to Ted Turner for use in the epic series The Gulf War. Following the conflict, Iraq became an independent nation under the control of arch-villain Saddam Hussein. Iraq remained independent from 1992 through 2003, although it was frequently used for target practice by former President Bill Clinton.
Following the September 11th attacks on America, Iraq became useful once again as the site for The Iraq War. Beginning in 2003, production began on the epic mini-series and continues to this day. While the areas where The Iraq War is filmed are relatively calm (compared to, say, a typical day in Detroit), much of Iraq is currently in a state of anarchy and confusion. President George W. Bush has stated that one of his goals is to restore order to Iraq in time for the next airing of Campaign!
