As a result of the merger between UPN and The WB to form the new CW network, many talented African-American actesses were thrown out of work. In an effort to remedy this problem (and keep from being raided by FCC agents), CW network executives greatly revised the former sitcom, Girlfriends. Originally about a group of women living in Los Angeles, the show will now be a talk show featuring the actresses who lost their jobs in the merger. Each week, they will get together and discuss news, entertainment, relationships and life in general. Moderating the discussion will be Kelsey Grammer, a voice actor for The Simpsons who will be making his first appearance in front of the TV cameras.
