Cosby

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

Cosby was the third live-action project by Shows With "Cosby" In Their Names, Inc., who tried to get MSNBC host Rita Cosby to play the lead. She was busy, so execs had to settle for Bill Cosby instead, forcing them to rewrite the entire plot.

Cosby played Hilton Lucas, an out-and-out loser who wanted to kill himself at work instead of retire. Phylicia Rashad, who played Cosby's wife in the 1980s sitcom The Cosby Show, was forced into the role of Hilton's wife Ruth, and T'Keyah Crystal Keymáh as the unlucky daughter Erica.

The series ran on CBS at around the same time as another Cosby-esque project, The Cosby Mysteries.

The show was based on the British TV show One Foot in the Grave, which should show you how much the British know about Bill Cosby.
