Bruce McCulloch

Bruce McCulloch is a former professional hockey player and well-known actor on the CBC drama The Kids in the Hall.
Hockey career
Debuting in the NHL with the Hartford Whalers in 1979, McCulloch is best known for his 4 year stint with the Vancouver Canucks from 1981-1985, leading the team to its first Stanley Cup appearance and eventually to last place in his final season with the Canucks. He continued playing for 3 more seasons with the Québec Nordiques, Minnesota North Stars, and short-lived expansion team, the Moose Jaw Golden Hosers.
Though not a stellar player, McCulloch earned admirers with his tireless determination and diminutive stature. At 4'9", he is the shortest player in NHL history. His number (.5) was retired by Vancouver in 1995.
Acting career
A celebrity in his native Canada, following his retirement from the NHL, McCulloch quickly signed on to play a key supporting role in the medical drama, The Kids in the Hall. McCulloch played Chief of Surgery, Dr. Daniel Benoit for 6 seasons and was twice nominated for a Gemini Award, the top Canadian television honor. At current exchange rates, this is worth 1.7 Emmy nominations.
Following the success of Kids in the Hall, McCulloch became the host of the Canadian version of Sale of the Century. He helmed that show through two centuries and the resulting chaotic transition before stepping down in 2005. He is currently signed on to star in CSI: Calgary, in development at CBS and CBC.
