Babylon 5

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

Babylon 5, created by Internet gadfly J. Gene "Genius" Roddenberry, was the most successful of the four sequels to the TV series Space: 1999. Set in the future, the series starred Bruce Boxleitner as Scarecrow, and Danielle Rouseau as Mrs. King. While hailed by critics as inventive and fresh, viewership was moderate, and the show was forgotten almost as soon as it had finished airing.

The show was eventually sold off to Paramount, which tripled the show's production budget to upgrade the special effects, dub over proper names in the dialogue, and digitally replace Scarecrow with Worf. Paramount then released the newly edited version as Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. While hailed by critics as inventive and fresh, viewership was moderate, and the show was forgotten almost as soon as it had finished airing.
