Aaron Sorkin

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

Aaron Sorkin is a noted creator, writer, and executive producer of television shows about people who love to talk in circles while walking in straight lines.

He has reportedly struggled with drug addiction, including several incidents in which he was found in possession of hallucinogens. Please note that "reportedly" here is used to keep anyone from suing us into oblivion. However, if it were true, it would explain a lot about the rapid-fire jibberjabber that passes for dialogue on his shows.

His apparent use of illicit substances may also explain the improbable nature of the NBC television show he created, The West Wing. He is currently the lead writer and executive producer on a new NBC series called "Studio 60," about a world in which America finds Gilbert & Sullivan to be the pinnacle of cutting-edge humor, the sordid, hastily redressed details of Sorkin's personal life are entirely acceptable dramatic fodder, and everyone who has ever displeased him is a great big doo-doo head.

Sorkin's alma mater, Syracuse University, has erected a giant moving statue in his honor located down and to the right of the Carrier Dome. The statue, a double-life-size replica of Sorkin, walks at a brisk pace on a pre-arranged route around campus every hour. Its motorized voicebox contains snippets of dialogue from his two network television shows, Sports Night and The West Wing. A student favorite is the two-line dialogue, spoken by Sabrina Lloyd and Joshua Malina in Sports Night, that says "Far be it from me to be adventuresome in our sex life!" "Thanks very much, folks, be sure and tip your waitresses!"

Joshua Malina! That's his name! Knew it started with a J.

In 2005, campus police arrested the Sorkin statue for possession of 'shrooms.
