A Christmas Story

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

A Christmas Story is a Made-for-TV Movie based on the childhood memories of CNN founder Ted Turner. Filmed entirely in British Ontario, Canada, A Christmas Story is the most popular Christmas-themed program on cable television, mainly because Turner purchases the rights to broadcast it non-stop over every cable channel during the holiday season.

Cast

The cast of A Christmas Story consists of Turner, his lovely wife Jane Fonda, a bunch of Claymation figures and some Muppets "borrowed" from The Jim Henson Company following Henson's untimely death. Using CGI and other high-tech gizmos bought from Industrial Light and Magic, Turner and Fonda are able to play every major role in A Christmas Story.

Plot

Using only his "official Red Ryder, carbine action, two-hundred shot range model air rifle, with a compass in the stock and 'this thing', which tells time", Turner must go into Hell (which conveniently is just up the road) and rescue Fonda. In the finale, Turner must defeat Satan in order to win the War on Christmas.

Setting

Turner states that A Christmas Story is set in the small town of Ypsilanti around the time of World War II. While the film does mainly refer to that time period, it also contains a few anachronisms. Among these are:

Other than these and a few other minor incidences, A Christmas Story remains faithful to the era.

Public Reaction

We're not really certain about the reaction of the entire public, but Turner seems to enjoy A Christmas Story and that's good enough for us.
